It is important to remember that open carry may not be legal in certain places such as schools, government buildings, courthouses, law enforcement buildings, private property where posted signs indicate so, and other locations prohibited by state or federal laws. Furthermore, while open carry is generally legal within the state of Wisconsin, local municipalities may still choose to enact their own ordinances limiting or prohibiting open carry.
